It's up to you to decide, but we recommend you to feed your dog twice a day. What's most important is what works well for you and your dog. We recommend you to feed puppies a little more often, as they have smaller stomachs and need regular meals to grow. The following guidelines can help:
0-3 months - feed 4 times a day
3-6 months - feed 3 times a day
6 months + - feed twice a day
In all our recipes, meat is the main ingredient. This is shown in the table of contents, as meat is always listed on the top. The meat content of our recipes is based on the recommended amount of meat from our nutritionists in order to keep a healthy protein balance.
Unlike many other food manufacturers, we are 100% transparent. We want our customers to know how we produce our food, what ingredients we use, where the ingredients come from, and how our products are transported. We simply want to offer products that we believe are better for your dog's health, and that is what we call honest food.
No, you don't. But it works great to do so if your dog prefers softer food or if you want your dog to get more hydrated.
Yes! Atlantic Salmon, Grass-Fed Lamb, Puppy and Healthy Turkey Bites are grain-free and gluten-free.
The short answer: With love! The longer answer: The most common method in the pet food industry is extrusion, which means that the food is cooked at a high temperature for about 2 minutes. Nutrition and vitamins are then added afterwards. At Buddy, we oven-bake our food at a lower temperature for 40-45 minutes and then let it cool for 1-2 days. We don't have to add nutrition or additives after baking, as the nutritions are kept naturally throughout the process. Our method is more advanced and costly, but the result is so much healthier.
We have chosen to produce our food in Germany alongside a family driven company with more than 120 years experience of baking dog food. In Germany, the requirements for animal feed production are very strict. There are also very few producers who can oven-bake food the way we do.

Feed & Health advice
Give your dog an amount equal to 1-1.5% of your dog's weight. You may need to adjust the amount of food depending on activity level, breed and age. For example, a labrador weighing 25 kg, the daily need is: 25 x 0.015 = 0.375 kg = 375 grams = 375 grams of feed per day. If you are not sure how much food your dog needs, check with our food test that you can find here, or call us at [email protected] or call 08-551 070 98 and we will help you find what suits your dog.
Serve it as it is or mix it with water. To increase your dog's appetite, avoid snacks and treats during the day. Also, a way to enhance the aroma is to heat the food in the microwave for a few seconds, or add some hot water to the food. It's good to create routines for meals.
The food is best stored in the bag, kept sealed in a dry and cool place.
If you suspect that your dog is suffering from food allergy or intolerance, visit a veterinarian for examination. Always remember to carefully introduce your dog to a new feed, as a quick change of feed could lead to stomach issues that could be mistaken for allergies or intolerances.
